On January 2006, our wholesaler set
a soapnuts production and import channel of organic quality. We assure
a complete tranparency on the channel entirety, from picking to marketing in Europe.
Our soapnuts are obtained from the wholesaler with a
20% higher price to guarantee a strict selection in batches. For an optimal washing ability, soapnuts ought to have a slender skin with a honey-like colour and free from any white or black traces. Moreover it musn’t be sticky when dry. Their broken appearance makes no issues because it is the husk itself which contains
saponine, a highly precious substance holding exceptional washing properties.
We are fully committed with our wholesaler for a
sustainable connection. We guarantee
stable purchase prices, high enough to assure correct wages to concerned people.
Till now, through lack of resources and of regular customers, operations such as peeling, sorting, weighing and packaging were performed at Delhi in a restricted and fairly polluted surrounding. Our partnership will enable a relocation of the production unit in a more suitable place : a small village near Dharamsala.
A team made up of women coming from very poor backgrounds (starting with 7) , will carry out the whole process as well as the manufacture of a 100% natural cotton packaging.
Their wages will be raised by 50% w.r.t. the commom practices.
A social fund has already been created to finance a basic social welfare system, to induce a raise in worker wages and to lead to a program of humanitarian aid for children. This fund is supplied with an overinvoicing for every
soapnut kilogram purchased in India.
For a
maximal marking out and in order to assure the seriousness of our practices, our channel was certified by
ECOCERT INDIA. This cerfication concerns particularly the following elements :
-The
soapnuts origin and harvest period.
-Way of cultivation certification (wild i.e. completely organic).
-Level of saponine.
-Process channel organization.
